Orvis has remade their popular Recon fly rod series and this time it’s better than ever. Trickle-down technology means the new Recon 2 rods have features and performance found in the Recon’s higher-priced cousin, the Orvis Helios D fly rods, but for half the cost. These rods are lightweight, versatile, highly durable, and extremely high-performing. Quick rod identifiers make them recognisable on the water and heavy-duty reel seats mean these rods will last a lifetime. Orvis truly designed a mid-priced rod with insanely high performance.
Blank
Helios 3 Technology - Orvis built the new Recon to fit into an action profile that splits the difference between the Helios 3F rods and the Helios 3D rods. That’s not the only thing the series takes from the Helios 3, however. Orvis also utilized the construction techniques and performance attributes of the Helios 3 in the new Recon Series. What does that mean? A Recon rod with better tracking, increased hoop strength, improved dampening, and improved accuracy. The Recon is also stronger, more impact-resistant, and higher-performing than ever before.
Guides
Silver Stripping Guides - The Recon 2 features silver stripping guides that help anglers fight the largest fish. These stripping guides are durable and corrosion-resistant for freshwater and saltwater performance when it matters. Plus, these guides are lightweight so they don’t add unnecessary weight to the rod overall.
Silver Snake Guides - Similarly, the snake guides on the new Recond rods feature improved performance and durable reliability. These guides are the perfect combination of affordability and durability which is why Orvis chose to put them on the new Recon rods.
Reel Seat
Pewter Type III Anodized Aluminum Reel Seat - Some major technological advancements have been made on these new Recon rods and the reel seat is certainly one of them. The freshwater rods feature a stylish wood insert but that’s not the most important story on these reel seats. Type III Anodizing may be the strongest anodizing on any reel seat ever… and the freshwater and saltwater versions of the Recon 2 utilize Type III for incredible durability.
Full Cork Handle - All rods in the series feature a full-wells cork handle. The cork is comfortable and fits an angler’s hand well for a solid performance on the water.
Rod Tube
Nylon-Covered Rod Tube - The Recon rod series comes in a Nylon-covered rod tube for protection during transportation and storage. These Nylon rod tubes aren’t waterproof, but they protect the rod from dings and dents when traveling.
Warranty
The Orvis 25-Year Guarantee - As of 5/8/2019, Orvis rods fall under the one-of-a-kind Orvis Guarantee. If broken within a quarter-century of purchase, Orvis vows to fix your rod. If they cannot fix the rod, Orvis will replace it regardless of circumstance. Normal wear and tear, accidental breakage, misuse and mistreatment along with anything else resulting in a broken rod are all covered in the Orvis 25-Year Guarantee. No questions asked. If Orvis cannot fix your broken rod and the rod has been discontinued, they will replace it with a current rod-model of equal value.
